WORKING IN QUEBEC CITY

MONTREAL MARCH 3 and 4, 2010

The Quebec City region is booming! Its economy is constantly growing. Its job market is diverse and dynamic. However, the lack of workers is starting to affect the businesses.

According to data from Emploi-Québec, the National Capital area will, on one hand, have 9,500 new jobs by 2013. On the other hand, Emploi-Québec estimates that more than 50,000 workers will leave the job market during the same period. These two factors, along with the low birth rate that has been recorded in Quebec over the past several years, are excellent reasons to consider the questions of recruiting and keeping qualified workers to be major challenges for the National Capital region.

With this in mind, the Quebec Chambre of commerce was mandated by Emploi-Québec to implement a project to create recruiting strategies that would target workers outside Quebec City and eventually Canada in its entirety. Our next destination will be Montreal, in March.

Once again this year, businesses from the region of Quebec City will travel to meet candidates. Quebec City businesses will have their own pavilion at the next Montreal Job and Training Fair. The City of Quebec will then undoubtedly convince you of its outstanding quality of life!

This innovative initiative is consistent with the need for employers to be proactive in their recruitment strategies. Plan on being in Montreal on March 3 and 4 2010!
